Why I’m Starting This Blog

I’m just like you—a total newbie who’s curious about trading. I don’t have a fancy finance degree, and until last week, I thought a ”bull market” meant cows on Wall Street. But I’m diving in, making mistakes, and learning along the way.

This blog will be my raw, unfiltered diary—no sugarcoating, no pretending I’m a pro. If you’re also starting out, let’s figure this out together!

Step 1: Choosing a Broker (The Overwhelming Part)

I Googled ”best broker for beginners” and immediately got analysis paralysis. Here’s how I narrowed it down:

My Priorities:

  • Low fees (because I’m starting with pocket change)
  • Easy-to-use app (I need training wheels)
  • Good educational resources

The Contenders:

  1. Broker A – Super popular, but the app looked like a spaceship dashboard.
  2. Broker B – ”Zero fees!” but had mixed reviews on Reddit.
  3. Broker C – Simple interface + free stock charts. Winner!

Mistake I Almost Made:
I nearly signed up for a ”free demo account” that required a credit card (sketchy!). Always check reviews first.

Step 2: My First Attempt at Placing an Order

I deposited $100 (RIP my avocado toast budget) and tried to buy my first stock:

  • The Plan: Buy 1 share of Company X because ”it sounded cool.”
  • The Reality: I accidentally set a limit order at $5 below the current price. Waited 2 hours wondering why nothing happened. Facepalm.

What I Learned:

  • Market order = buys immediately at current price.
  • Limit order = only buys if the stock hits your price.

Step 3: The Emotional Rollercoaster

  • 10:00 AM: ”I’m gonna be the next Wolf of Wall Street!”
  • 10:05 AM: ”Why did it drop 2%?! Should I sell?!”
  • 10:30 AM: ”Okay, breathing… it’s normal for stocks to move.”

Key Takeaway: Trading is 50% psychology. I need to chill.

What’s Next?

  • Paper trading (fake money) to test strategies.
  • Learn candlestick patterns (those wicks aren’t for candles?).
  • Track every trade in a journal—even the embarrassing ones.

Your Turn!

  • Are you also new to trading? What’s confusing you right now?
  • Veterans: What’s the #1 thing you wish you knew as a beginner?

P.S. No judgment if you roast my limit order blunder in the comments. I’ll laugh with you!
